Last Saturday, I was so excited to attend an event for the sole purpose of this post. It was the first of many more to come! Info Pursuit IT Solutions & Education hosted its second Dining Etiquette Seminar at the Trade Center Annex.
“Building a professional image takes practice, commitment and consistency.” – Info Pursuit IT Solutions & Education
Founder and manager of Info Pursuit IT Solutions & Education, Ms. Lyndonna Francis, worked overtime with her team to ensure that both attendees and presenters experienced an evening of elegance, fine dining, fun and learning. Mission accomplished!
The three presenters for the night were Mrs. Helen Bhola-Paul, Mrs. Naline Joseph and Mr. Michael Paul who all did an exceptional job on delivering almost everything imaginable on ‘proper dining’.
Some of the topics discussed by Mrs. Bhola-Paul and Mrs. Joseph:
- The importance of table manners
- Table behaviour
- Napkin rules
- Posture – sit up, don’t lean back or forward
- Elbows in! – Elbows should be close to your side
- Eating soup – Scoop away from you
- General table setting
- Seating at the table
- Your Host
- Correct use of utensils
- Appetizer
- Passing items
- Table crumbing/Finger bowl
- Hot beverages
- General tips for dining
Mr. Michael Paul’s segment was very interesting as he taught the audience the correct way to use chopsticks. There I was thinking I already had that part down. To my surprise I was
Best part about this seminar was that while the attendees were learning, everyone was able to apply all this useful information immediately. Thanks to Grenadian chef, Anthony Johnson of www.kreativechef.com, we were served three scrumptious, well presented meals to put what we learning into practice. What is a dining seminar without some good food, right?
The meals were delicious and the attendees were wowed and very impressed by the meals prepared by chef Johnson and his team.
My orders were island greens, coconut and apple with poppy seed dressing to start, rosemary infused stuffed chicken legs with English croquettes & fresh market vegetables for main course and mini tart-let with nutmeg ice-cream.
There were also some treats between our meals as well as some trivia questions and wonderful prizes for those who paid attention.
Kudos to Ms. Lyndonna Francis and team at Info Pursuit IT Solutions & Education. It was a spectacular evening. Job well done.
I’d like to hear from you. Leave comments below.
