Global Entrepreneurship Week Grenada #GEW2016

Did you know that this week is Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016 which is also being recognized in Grenada?
Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016 #GEW2016

Every year, for one week in November, over 160 countries participate in entrepreneurial activities and competitions to promote entrepreneurship globally and within their country. It is also a time for entrepreneurs to network and to learn more from other entrepreneurs. This year’s theme is: No one must be left behind: Creating Opportunities for all through Entrepreneurship’.

To celebrate, Global Entrepreneurship Week Grenada (local team) compiled a series of events for this week, Monday 14th – Sunday 20th, November. The list of events (pic below) included a small invitation only dinner/workshop held last night (Tuesday 15th Nov.) at Le Chateau Restaurant & Bar, which I got the opportunity to attend.

There were two speakers at the event, Mrs. Deborah Ramdeholl-Baveghems, John Maxwell Team Independent Certified Coach, Speaker and Trainer and Ms. Carlana Charles, Blogger, Speaker, Event planner/Host and Brand Strategist.

As I usually do when I attend any entrepreneurship meetup/workshop, I listened intently for notes and nuggets I can take away to share with you. These are what really stuck out to me:

Carlana shared on ‘Branding’ and stressed on these points:

A brand is what people think of you, it is what you offer how it impacts. Branding is all the things that add to that expectation and experience.

Mrs. Ramdeholl-Baveghems shared on ‘Reaching Your Potential Through Personal Growth’ and asked a few key questions from John C. Maxwell’s book ‘The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth’ which I think we should all ask ourselves:

1. “In what ways have you proactively pursued personal growth since completing your education?”

2. “In which skills or competences do you hope to grow professionally over the next year?”

3. “What actions will be required on your part to make sure that growth happens?”

To reach your potential you must grow. And to grow you must be highly intentional about it. – John C. Maxwell, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth
